Under the Spotlight - Birtsmorton Court

This month I have chosen to tell you about a really special place that is a beautiful Grade I listed building, steeped in history dating back to 1241. Birtsmorton Court is based in near Malvern with the borders of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire all found within the estate together with a breathtaking view over the Malvern Hills.

Found in the Domesday Book, home to the same family for 300 years and connected to the Royal House of Tudor, Birtsmorton Court has a really interesting story and is one of only a handful of houses still with water in a double moat. You can read more about the history of the house here.

This is an exclusive use venue, which gives you the privacy of the whole place for your wedding day. They can offer you a summer wedding on the terrace by the moat and their splendid gardens or a roaring fire for an intimate ceremony on a winter’s afternoon. The beautiful setting offers a great opportunity to really make your wedding unique to you. Better still, this is a dog-friendly wedding venue and man's (and woman's) best friend is very welcome to join in, walking you down the aisle and posing for photos!

Choose your ceremony location

Birtsmorton Court is unusual in that it offers a parish church on the estate, where you can hold your wedding ceremony before a short walk back to the venue to celebrate your marriage.

If you choose to have a civil ceremony, the venue has two indoor rooms to choose from - the Great Hall, which is the oldest room in the house, and the Garden Room.

Whilst outdoors, The White Garden was created by Mrs Rosalie Dawes in 1997 and is the perfect location for a wedding ceremony. So called the White Garden because it is planted with the most gorgeous white shrubs, perennials, 'Iceburg' roses, Jasmine, white Clematis and Wisteria, it truly smells divine.

Wedding breakfast

The venue can accommodate up to 200 guests for your wedding reception and they work with catering partners who offer a huge range of options to suit all tastes and budgets, or will put together bespoke menus with you to surprise and delight even the most discerning of palates. Both companies use fresh, locally-sourced produce from top regional suppliers so you know that when it comes to dinner you are in for a treat.

A place to rest your head

Even though the venue is tucked away in the countryside, there are plenty of options for you and up to 30 guests to stay the night after your celebrations and for wider guests there are some amazing local B&Bs and cottages.
